Charles
I, Queen
Victoria and Alfred Lord Tennyson have all been residents.
In more recent times the Isle of Wight is remembered
for three pop festivals between 1968 and 1970.
These internationally famous events witnessed the
last performances by both Jimi Hendrix and Jim
Morrison.
Today Island life continues to be cross cultural:
- A symphony or two on the
lawn of Osborne House.
- 'A la Carte' at the George
Hotel, Yarmouth - why not sail there?
- A Jazz fest or two.
- Alternative Culture - Sandown & Shanklin
Rugby club.
- The newly revived Music Festival.
